Drag & Drop is BROKEN in Windows 10

#1 Post by CTRL_ALT_DEL » 26.04.2018, 14:24

When using FreeCommander in previous versions of Windows, a user could drag a file over a preexisting archive, such as a RAR, in order to add that file to the archive. After dropping the file into the RAR, the RAR filesize expands and receives a new timestamp. This is a standard file manager practice that dates back decades.

However, when dragging the same file over a RAR in Windows 10, nothing happens. The RAR doesn't expand or receive a new timestamp because FreeCommander doesn't appears to recognize the action as an attempt to add the file to the RAR. Are there any plans to fix this? This seriously impedes workflow.

Drag & Drop not functioning in the year 2018 is completely illogical!

The drop operation on a RAR file can only work if WinRar is installed.
I have installed the test version of the WinRar and the drop operation works for me (Windows 10, FC 770 32 bit).

Every time I attempt to drop a file into a ZIP or RAR, instead of performing the task as it does in Windows 7 x86, I receive the following message:

"1 Interupted Action. The source and destination files names are the same."

I've tested multiple versions of WinRAR, both x86 and x64, including the most recent build.
I've tested multiple versions of FreeCommander, from version 685 to 770.
I've run FreeCommander with Admin privledges and without.
I've run tests with blocking transfer enabled and disabled.
I've run tests with archiving plugins enabled and disabled.

I'm using Win10 x64.

The only way I can successfully drag a file into a ZIP file is with WinRAR uninstalled via FreeCommander's plugin.

What exactly is going on here?
