Tab profiles

#1 Post by KrimmT » 19.06.2008, 09:58

I've been using FreeCommander for few years now and it has certainly proven to be the best file manager for my needs (tested quite many others as well).

When the tabs were introduced, it went even one step beyond.
One feature I would like to see though, would be the possibility to manage tabs - this could be efficient with one or more of the following:
  • - tagging tabs -> making it possible to show f.ex. all the tabs that are tagged with 'windows' and/or 'software settings' thus making it easier to navigate in case there are loads of tabs locked in the configuration
    • This would moreover compensate for many tagging software's lacking of folder tagging and could probably easily be accompanied with tag-specific tab auto-coloring
    - user-definable color profiles for tabs enabling user to change the profile of particular tab with tab context menu
    - grouping tabs (drag'n'drop tabs in 'master' tabs)
    - CTRL and/or Shift + drag'n'drop to select&move many tabs
    - quick profile switch -> changing the used .ini-file with one-click
The last one would most likely be quite easy to implement.

PS. I recently discovered Tag2find freeware tagging-software and - forgive me my ignorance on programming issues - if it is possible to show in Freecommander the tags added to files by this application or other similar software, please let me know. This would help a lot.
