Unable to view FreeCommander after installed

#1 Post by Calmphyre » 15.08.2016, 17:16

Hi, I'm new to the forum.
I downloaded FreeCommander XE 32 to try the app before donating. I am running Windows 10 Aniversary.
When I run FreeCommander, there is a flash of a window opening, then disappears :cry:
There is a FreeCommander in taskbar by the clock, I click in it, nothing happens. :cry:
If I right click on it and select.restore FreeCommander nothing happens. :cry:

Any help would be greatly appreciated. :D

James :D

Try the portable version: http://freecommander.com/downloads/Free ... ble716.zip
Download and extract it not on the system's partition.

Check your freecommander.ini file and set the options:

MinimizeToTray=0
StartAsIcon=0

Before you change the file you must close FreeCommander.

It's not normal to happen with a fresh .ini file.
Did you activate the "Tablet mode"? If so, try disabling it: http://www.askvg.com/fix-apps-and-progr ... indows-10/

No, I'm not in tablet mode, I'm in desktop.
There is no FreeCommander.ini file in either the installed Frecommander XE folder under Program Files (xx86)
or under the folder I created to extract the portable version in. :cry:
Is there a Reg hack or do I manually create the ini file? :?:
I'm trying to test out FreeCommander to see if I wish to continue to use it,
if I get it working as 32bit, I will definitely donate to get the 64bit version. :lol:

Just hasn't been my luck on this one :lol:

Thanks again
James

If portable XE can't create the settings file in its own folder it means it doesn't have enough access rights to write to that folder, so something definitely wrong happens with your system (very limited user account?). Every current XE version works fine on my win 10.
