Can Autoplay open Freecommander instead of Windows Explorer?

#1 Post by simonides » 27.02.2015, 16:38

Hello, using Freecommander XE 2015, when I connect a device eg, an iPOD, windows prompts me with an Autoplay window, asking (among other things) if I want to open folder to view files which would invoke windows explorer. Can I set it to open with freecommander instead?

thanks in advance, Simonides

In a word ... No!

See Microsoft article Change AutoPlay settings (Win7)

If you mean "AutoRun.inf" hidden file on portable drives -- which could be done in XP and Vista ...
- Microsoft have disabled most "keys" in "AutoRun.inf" -- it is too much of a security risk
Microsoft article: Autorun.inf Entries
Autorun.inf Entries wrote: Windows 7 AutoRun limitation
Windows 7 will no longer display the AutoRun task in the AutoPlay dialog
for devices that are not removable optical media (e.g., CD/DVD). See the http://blogs.msdn.com/b/e7/archive/2009 ... oplay.aspx blog entry.
