Android smartphone Samsung GT-I9000 is recognised in Windows XP and FC XE.
But if in FC XE 615 we try to go to My Computer -> GT-I9000 -> Phone -> open any folder (for example, Test) and try to copy something, containing long name from local PC disk to phone, we see that:
destination path is rather strange, like ::{XXXXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXX}\\\?\usb#vid_XXXX&pid_XXXX&XX_XX#XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX_XX#{XXXXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXX}\SID-{XXXXX,XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX,XXXXXXXXXXX}\{0000000D-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}\*.* (changed all letters and numbers with X symbols)
and see message:
"Recipient does not support long file names."
and suggestion is given to rename destination file/folder to short 8.3 format.
In Windows explorer everything could be copied without any problems "as is".
Copying file/folder with long name to Android smart in 615
Re: Copying file/folder with long name to Android smart in 6
Use copy and paste (Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V) for such devices.
Re: Copying file/folder with long name to Android smart in 6
It works only in Windows explorer. But what's the difference, considering that for all copy/move/delete operations in FC XE option "Use Windows" is used. FC XE says after Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V that there is already such destination folder (but in reality it is not so), tries to copy data, but nothing happens.
Re: Copying file/folder with long name to Android smart in 6
And as I now found, data instead of to be copied from PC to smartphone (after using Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V in FC XE), are copied to desktop!
Re: Copying file/folder with long name to Android smart in 6
In TotalCommander 8 copying file from PC to smartphone on the same computer works fine. Third-party plugins for TC to work with Android devices are not installed.
