Cannot access folders/files with polish fonts

#1 Post by Janosik » 19.06.2012, 16:27

Hi,

I have that issue I cannot work out:
I can't enter / access folders or files when a name has polish fonts.
BTW FC do not show polish fonts, please have a look at printscreen

in windows explorer you can see there are polish fonts

What is interesting FreeCommander XE hasn't that issue...
I have regional settings and language set to polish.

I'd be very grateful for any help.
Cheers

FC2009 can't handle unicode characters in paths or files/folders names. You have to use FCXE.

Thanks for the quick answer!

However FC XE has got that annoying problem - when I enter to the folder (via keyboard ENTER)
to start navigate I always have to press DOWN arrow, but only second key press works. Otherwise I cannot do anything.

For example - I enter to the folder (keyboard ENTER)
1. I want to get back -> press DOWN Arrow, then ENTER (not just enter)
2. I want to go down on a list -> press DOWN Arrow (nothing happens) and then DOWN Arrow (works this time).

That is very annoying and makes FC XE unusable for me, since I use keyboard a lot when navigating.

I have tried to find a solution here on the forum and in the web but without success.

Cheers

OK I managed to sort that out by myself :).
I had to delete FC XE ini files before installing a new relase.
A painful thing but now FC XE works fine.

BTW before that I had tried about 10 free file managers and FC XE is the no 1.
