QuickView Syntax Highlighting Editor
QuickView Syntax Highlighting Editor
Salvete! I *really* need a syntax-coloured text editor that works quickly and well with FreeCommander.
I want to activate the quickviewer and instantly be able to copy/paste/cut/edit/save the text in the panel.
I have tried synplus, which is very versatile, but the keyboard commands do not work in FC's quickviewer. (I think FC has not allowed any keyboard shortcuts to register with the quickviewer panel).
The default for text (and xml, cs, vb, etc) is only a viewer, not an editor.
For me, this is essential. Right now, instead of using the quickviewer (which is too slow), I use Notepad2 as my editor for * files. However, I'd rather use the internal viewer.
Anyone have any ideas, or other workflows? What plugins do y'all use? Has anyone tried to make a plugin just for FC?

I also use Notepad2 as files editor (F4).
I use UniversalViewer (with few plugins) as external viewer.
The internal viewer is just that: a quick viewer.

Re: QuickView Syntax Highlighting Editor
Yes, but the quick-viewer, even if it is a quick-view, does not natively view with syntax colouring. It doesn't do much good to view the file without the colouring. Colouring gives instant recognition of the code structure without actually reading the file. It is much faster and useful to use notepad2, which I am doing, but I *wish* I could just do it in the quickview.

Re: QuickView Syntax Highlighting Editor
Have you tried other editor-plugins for TC?

There are some which also have syntax highlighting.

Yes, I have tried very many TC plugins. I was hoping maybe that some of y'all might offer your experience with ones you like.

Re: QuickView Syntax Highlighting Editor
SynWrite have you tried too?
Re: QuickView Syntax Highlighting Editor
Yes, I have tried that one - I never could get it to allow me to edit the document like I can with SynPlus - and it doesn't load any faster. So far, SynPlus is the best one of all, but still loads too slow for a "quick" view.
Karol, do you use SynWrite?

I also use synplus, but I can't verify a slow loading.
Ok, it's not the slowest PC, but the loading is nearly immediately.

Re: QuickView Syntax Highlighting Editor
Marek says he doesn't see the slow load either. Maybe it is my XP... I have 2.7ghz processor, 4gb of RAM - but my NVIDIA Quadro NVS 290 video card is taxed with my two monitors, and it only has 250mb ram. Maybe that's the problem.
