Can this be added as an option? Or it exists already and I can't find it?
If I move to the opposite panel by clicking to select it, I lose the selection of the files...
"Eat the first click" option
Re: "Eat the first click" option
Joby, do you mean that, if you have a file selected in panel1, and then you click to panel2, that you lose the selection in panel1?
However, it seems to me that the selection is retained. When you activate panels, if you click in the panel's background, then former files lose their blue selected quality, but get a dotted box instead (XP SP3) - but if you click on the TAB, instead, the file will still be fully selected.
But it doesn't matter whether the selected file is marked with the dotted box or the full selection - a copy/delete action will work on it immediately.
But if you click into panel2 and hit a file by accident or inadvertance, obviously, that file will be selected.
Or, maybe I missed your point altogether...

Re: "Eat the first click" option
Let's say that I have "File99" selected in "Panel1".
I need to move it in "Destination Folder" in "Panel2", using only the mouse.
But I need to browse for the "Destination Folder", because it's deeper in the folders structure.
So I click in "Panel2" and start browsing until I reach exactly the "Destination Folder".
Now I'd like to click once anywhere in "Panel1" to activate "Panel1" (like after hitting TAB key), while the selection of "File99" remains active, so I can click the "Move" icon on the splitter.
The way it is now, if I hit anywhere in "Panel1", I lose "File99"s selection.
The workaround I'm using at the moment: I click the horizontal scroll bar to activate "Panel1" and the selection of "File99" is retained.
But I don't always have a horizontal scroll bar available...
In FC2009 I used to click the address bar, but in FCXE, clicking the address bar displays the History menu, that takes over the "Panel1"s display area...
I think xplorer2 has this feature, if I remember correctly.

Re: "Eat the first click" option
Does it work right if you click on the tab?

Re: "Eat the first click" option
Yes, but, as I work with many different tabs (in size and placement), the mouse pointer's position is not consistent, so I cannot build any muscle memory...
Strange, but true!
