Hi,
I'm running 64 bit windows 7 professional with 8 gigs of ram. I've got version 0.0.0.570 public preview of FreeCommand XE. My problem is that every time I close XE, my history disappears. This didn't happen when I was running the current stable version; it just started when I moved to the beta version.
One wrinkle may be the way I run XE. We are on a domain and I have a privileged admin account and a non-privileged every day account. I log into windows using my non-privileged account, which is an admin on the local computer but has no domain admin abilities. I right click on on a shortcut to a command prompt and run XE as an admin using my privileged account. That way I can have admin access to files and shares using XE, but I can't screw things up in Explorer.
All the paths for the ini file, appdata, etc., are set to the privileged account. Other changes stick. The first thing I always do when installing FC is set ctrl+l to open the go to folder dialog box. That change works fine.
If I run XE normally as my non-privileged account I have the same problem. So I don't think the way I run XE is the problem.
Anything you'd like me to test?
Thanks,
history disappears
Re: history disappears
What about the option "Delete history entries on close" under Settings->General?
Re: history disappears
It was unchecked when I looked yesterday. I tried checking it, closing, re-opening, then unchecking it again, but that didn't work. The ini settings with "history" in the name are:
DeleteHistoryOnClose=0
SelectCurrentHistoryDir4SelectDrive=0
TabHistoryperTab=1
1=actDirHistory;tbsButton;;;0;;0;0;0
1=actDirHistPrev;tbsDropDown;$FcPopup_HistoryFolders;;0;;0;0;0
2=actDirHistNext;tbsDropDown;$FcPopup_HistoryFolders;;0;;0;0;0
And here's something interesting. I have [Tab_EA73C68D-923A-48CA-80F8-76F13445981C_History] and [Tab_B700D165-DA05-4181-9506-8CC937F9BCE8_History] sections in the ini file and they have the correct history. But when I click on the address bar to go to the history, the entries don't show up. I also have [Dir1_History] and [Dir2_History]. The tab history sections have 19 and 20 entries, the dir1 and dir2 have 3 and 4. I have two panes, one tab in each pane.
Any other settings in the ini file I should check?

Re: history disappears
If you have TabHistoryperTab=1, then some Tabs have maybe no history.
You could first try TabHistoryperTab=0.
You could first try TabHistoryperTab=0.

That did it. I thought checking "Folder History per tab" meant that each tab kept a separate history and unchecking it would mean both tabs would have the same history. That's the behavior I saw when it was checked. But they still have their separate histories, so I'm good with that.
Thank you very much for the fast and helpful responses!

Re: history disappears
I know I'm a bit late with this, but can someone point out where the options "Folder History per tab" can be set?
Me too I have "Delete history entries on close" unchecked but still losing history on restart...
(FC version 0.0.0.601 public preview)

Thanks.
Unchecking this does the trick, although I don't understand why...
