How To Toggle "Show Only Files" With Icon Or Shortcut
Hello.
Running v691 x64 under Win7 Pro.
Tools | Settings | View | File/Folder List | General |Show Only Files: < enable / disable >
The above menu selection sequence is the only way I know in which to toggle between showing the folders too (or not) in a FCXE panel.
Is there a quicker method (outside of using custom layouts)?

I can't find that button or shortcut either. But I just put a dot (.) in the Quick filter field (all my files have extensions).
We should be able to define a filter like "*" which applies only to "Files", but I can't get that to work...

I took your idea one step further. See the attachment.
Basically, a filter can be defined to exclude all folders. However, I don't know the way yet to assign an icon or shortcut to these non-quick-filters. So I can't "toggle" this custom NoFolders filter easily. Well at least we're half-way there.

Is View -> Plain view actually what you're looking for?

@thisguycecil: Brilliant! Using exclusion rules for filter works great!
Now we just use a toolbar button with a pop-up menu:

joby_toss: Okay, I created that toolbar shortcut. Not the one-button or one keyboard shortcut route I had originally envisioned, but definitely it's 99% of the solution. Thanks a lot for your advice.
dsperber: I thought about using Plain View but that feature would show _all_ the files from _all_ subfolders (if any) contained in the current active folder. That's why I was looking for a toggle to hide subfolders within that active folder only, so that I could view just the files and not the subfolders' files too.

Strange that no shortcut exist for this.
Workaround: *.* in quick filter, then you can use quick filter keyboard shortcut or button to enable/disable folders.
