First, be sure to have a folder full of files and with some subfolders. The number of files and folders should be enough to be more than the number of files that could be visualized in the pane (you have the vertical scrollbars shown.
- Select all your files and make a RAR archive of the folder and subfolders
- Now set the order by date in the details view of the pane.
- The previous folders are on top followed immediately by the new RAR file and the rest of the files.
- Select all the folders and delete them
- Move the selection USING THE KEYBOARD on the first file after the RAR
- Press SHIFT-END to go to the last file in the pane selecting every item EXCLUDING the RAR file
At this point an unaware user (like me) could have pressed the DELETE key (or worse the SHIFT+DELETE right? after all why moving the files in the trashcan?, I have just made a RAR of them).
Oh well.... I have a backup, but this is very dangerous. I think it is related to the selection of the first item with the keyboard, if I use the mouse then the RAR file is not selected when I press the SHIFT+END keys
