582 - Archive operations do not work

#1 Post by vladiva » 29.03.2012, 07:54

I use the default archive plugin

I can copy the files into archive BUT I can't

1. Delete files from it using shortcuts. Neither F8 nor Shift-Delete works. Only a Delete from the context menu works.
2. Rename files. F2 doesn't work. F6 copies the file to another directory but the file is still in archive. Context menu doesn't offer an option for renaming. Invoking multi-rename dialog leads to an error message "Data loading error"
3. If the file doesn't have zip extension, but e.g. jar, no context menu appears at all.

The setting dialog for archiver plugins is confusing - in a drop down list it offers supported options (607), what does it mean? If you expand the drop down list you see a lot of other options (e.g. can modify archive) but choosing them changes nothing.

I've tried other plugins:
1. TotalZip - I still can't delete files from archive. F2 activates the inline editor for file name. But after entering a new name and pressing "enter" the old name is kept
2. 7Zip works only with 7z format. When trying to get into a zip file a get an "Archive format unknown" error message.

Is there any description how to configure the archiver plugins correctly in order to work with the archives like with a normal directory?

It does not work only if "Use Windows" for delete operation is set - fixed for the release 583.

2. The operations are not supported for archive plugins.
3. Now only context menu from Windows are supported.

Yes, it is only info list. The number (607) is some code for the options set ( for the most users probably not important).

Tested again using fc_internal. There are still a lot of issues.

1. For some reason I can't have an empty folder in the zip archive.
a) When deleting the last file from the folder in a archive the folder is deleted as well. -> Bug
b) When trying to create a new empty folder in the archive i get an error message

c) When trying to copy an empty folder into an archive nothing happens. Indeed, I can copy a not empty folder.

2. Can the support for renaming of the files in the archives be introduced? It is a very useful action I'm really missing.

using R586 with standard settings:
1. add empty folder to *.zip not working [grayed out in FC2009]
2. rename inside *.zip, after double click is not working either [works in FC 2009]
3. create and pack an empty folder works for me:
select empty folder then menu File\pack, then check "use current folder", if not *.zip is created in the opposite panel
Win7x64

Still present in 594.

Is it going to be any work on this issues?

In my opinion it is one of the feature which will make my (computer) life much easier. And therefore my very kind request to Marek to devote some of his valuably time for adding comprehensive archive support.

Implemented archive operations for the release 595:
- rename
- create new folder
