Here's an update. Thanks for being patient while I cleared some time in my schedule to work on this.
When I originally tested this issue, it appeared to happen 100% of the time with all zip files. After testing it some more, it happens *most* of the time with *some* zip files, but not all the time, and not with all zip files.
The fact that it happens some of the time (but not all the time) with the
same zip file possibly implies a timing issue or race condition.
One of the zip files it usually happens on is the v5.01 (Windows) download available from:
https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_4/index.html
Another zip file it usually happens on is the v1.23 download available from this excellent site:
https://www.nirsoft.net/utils/battery_i ... _view.html
For the first zip file above, you need to drill down to executable file (2 folder levels deep), and then backspace out of the zip file. Then FCXE v792 will often crash.
For the second zip file above, you just need to open the zip file (1 folder level deep), and then backspace out of the zip file. Then FCXE v792 will often crash.
Recently, Marek was kind enough to send me FCXE v792.3, which seems to have solved the issue. The version he sent me is 32-bits, and I did all previous testing on the 64-bit version. So it's not exactly comparing apples to apples, but it looks great so far.
I'm happy to test a 64-bit version of v792.3. If it's still needed, I can reinstall v792 and upload a crash report from it, although because the report contains somewhat private information, I would prefer not, unless it's really needed.
