Missing folder icons for system folders (and some others)

The folder icon is blank for certain folders. It seems like only read only folders, but I can create a read-only folder and the icon doesn't go away. This just started happening and I verified that it still happens with a fresh FreeCommander (i.e. no settings).

Here's a screenshot in case it helps.

Are those hidden folders?

Some are, but not all of them. And one missing folder icon is on a folder I created.

I'm also using build 690x64 on win7x64 and can't replicate the issue.
Did you try the portable version, just to make sure it uses the default settings?

I did use a freshly downloaded portable version. I just tried again, this time with the 32-bit version as well as the 64-bit, and the 32-bit version didn't have the problem - the folder icons showed up for all folders. But the 64-bit version still had missing folder icons.

Like I mentioned, the common element seems to be when the folder is marked read-only, but making a folder read-only doesn't create the issue.

Without showing hidden files or system files, the two folders that have this problem are C:\Recovery and C:\Config.Msi. They both have the following attributes:

Archive
Read only
Hidden
System

I created another folder and set those attributes, but the folder icon shows up normally.

I'd be happy to provide more information to help debug it.

Maybe Marek can replicate this issue and can debug it. I can't replicate this on my system.

What about the tree? It is local drive?
Have you checked Settings->File/folder list->Icons: Registered (Extracted)?

Yes, both my drives are local, and both have the missing folder icon. The tree view doesn't have the missing icons.

I didn't realize there were File/folder list->Icons settings. But Fixed Drive had Extracted Icons and the other three had Registered. I switched Fixed to Registered and the icons appear again.

I don't recall ever changing that setting and folder icons have been showing up fine for years, but thanks for the pointer! :)

Hi Marek,

I am a new user and have the exactly same problem. Tree shows icon for folders, but not all of them same in the filelist(s)-tabs. Some folders you see the icon only a milisecond and the are gone.
The folder are normal folder on my local drive, self created onces.

I can't find the menue here what was mentioned in Donor version 770. How to fix? Had same problem with free version and older version.
I donated it and I am just checking if this is worth to keep trying on to replace the standard I used (DirOpus as bougth version).

Only one point I found is - that I can't queue copy jobs, as I had some more files and dirs to move. Maybe I didn't yet found it?

+ the point of missing icon for folders which is a big issue/bug for me.

If you can not find "Settings->File/folder list->Icons: Registered (Extracted)": https://freecommander.com/fchelpxe/en/Icons.html

Thanks Karol. It helped me to find the settings.
:-) Set to "Registered" and it works now.

Found copy-queues as well :-D
