When I use latest fc in non-full screen mode, say docked at top-right corner, there is an extra empty line below status bar.

I have loaded a screen shot here, hope it appears correctly.

That is wastage of precious screen real state. kindly consider removing it, or explaining what it is needed for?

Also, dos box comes below that empty line, taking the entire line for itself. May be that can also be combined with status line along with quick filter, so that all three appear on same line, if space permits, thus screen space will be saved.

yes, unticking "wrappable" removed that blank line.
