846 - Missing notification if the file is being used by another process
846 - Missing notification if the file is being used by another process
To reproduce try to use my settings, use FC file operations, "Auto minimize when starting the operation", Queue.
Then open any file, e.g. audio/video in any player which block the file, e.g. AIMP, while the file is playing, move it with F6 to the other panel.
Result - queue panel is opened, 0%, no message.
When moving multiple files, operation is paused in the middle, but there is no notification, it's quite annoying.
Is it possible to restore window, or show any notification, that operation is paused, please?

Still the same in 848.
Re: 846 - Missing notification if the file is being used by another process
Cannot confirm
Queue settings = "Auto minimize when starting the operation"
loaded a couple of files in VLC
pressed F6
Queue GUI pops up with red exclamation mark and a warning that the file is in use by another application (the file which is actually being played, the other files are moved without issue)

Re: 846 - Missing notification if the file is being used by another process
Thanks for the reply, not all steps to reproduce are listed.
Try these:
- use default settings
- File/folder operations - General - Move - "Use Freecommander"
- Operations Queue tab - "Make Queue button as default..."
- for Move dialog, F6, Settings tab use options "Auto close for successful operation", "Auto minimize when starting the operation", click "Save" button and press the Queue button for test (while file is not in use)
- now open audio file in AIMP, or video file in VLC
- in FC focus the playing file
- press Shift+F6 to move without dialog
= no error dialog is shown, in the queue 0% is shown, in the taskbar "Move" item is there, but it's invisible when using autohide taskbar option in Windows
BTW I'm using F6 to move without dialog, to reproduce Shift+F6 is needed, if you did not change it.

Re: 846 - Missing notification if the file is being used by another process
Sorry Dreamer,
I cannot confirm, the queue dialog disappears then it pops back up with the error message as described above.

Re: 846 - Missing notification if the file is being used by another process
With the steps to reproduce from previous post?
Which "queue dialog" do you mean? There should be no queue or move or any dialog when using the steps from the previous post.
Make sure you're using the option "Queue status bar visible", "Only if any operation exists" - it's the default option.

Re: 846 - Missing notification if the file is being used by another process
Did you enabled the options from the steps to reproduce?
Probably most important option is "Auto minimize when starting the operation", you can check it using F6 and switching to Settings tab, that option must be enabled.Dreamer wrote: ↑01.06.2021, 20:18- use default settings

Re: 846 - Missing notification if the file is being used by another process
That's strange, thanks for testing, I tested again and the first time with these options I have that dialog too, as I said in previous post.
Please try these last steps:
- click the Save button on the last dialog
- release the file, close the player with the moving file
- click the Queue button
- file should be moved correctly once - this is important!
- now open the file (same or other) in the player, AIMP or VLC
- in FC press Shift+F6 to move the file without dialog

Re: 846 - Missing notification if the file is being used by another process
Dear Dreamer,
I clicked the save button as per your previous instructions
I also tested several times, also using various scenarios
for me it works as it should.
I think it would be beneficial to get at least a third, if not a fourth and fifth opinion regarding this issue
so that it isn't reduced to a discussion between you and I as to whose installation of FC works or not.
I would kindly ask other members of the forum to test this issue as well and give their feedback. (It is very easy to test. )
Maybe it would help if the forum rules were changed so that at least two confirmations of an issue are posted before the issue is considered valid. Just my two cents worth.
Just because a user is experiencing an issue, doesn't mean it is caused by FC. It can be caused by corrupted FC .ini files, or even a recent windows update and some issues are not issues at all but the normal behavior of windows/windows explorer, which FC relies on for much of its functionality.
I appreciate the enormous amount of feedback you give here on the forum. It has often helped me in the past. Thanks!
Best regards,
Re: 846 - Missing notification if the file is being used by another process
Thanks again for testing, I appreciate your effort, it's really strange now.
I don't think it's the Windows issue, because it's the FC move operation, not Windows, but I'm not 100% sure.
I think, it's not the corrupted .ini file either, since I can reproduce it with default settings.
Anyway, if someone else want to test it, using the Queue is not needed, just use FC for Move operation, "Auto minimize when starting the operation" in the Move dialog (F6), Settings tab, click Save, Run to perform the operation once, then open the file in VLC or AIMP, press Shift+F6 in FC to move it without a dialog.

Re: 846 - Missing notification if the file is being used by another process
@Dreamer
I can confirm, but I necessarily need to activate the Queue as default button (otherwise FCXE does a correct job)

Re: 846 - Missing notification if the file is being used by another process
Thanks for confirmation.
It's really strange, 3 users and 3x different behavior.
BTW I think it's a bug, so moving it to Bug Reports.
