With thumbnails view enabled, the space between thumbnails is much too large.
If I enable "Draw caption without clipping"
spacing is reduced but still too high.

Re: 844 Thumbnail View - Space between thumbnails too large
Thanks alf500,
My settings for Spacing (pixel) and Font size equal the defaults. They haven't changed since the last 8xx versions. The Display is now different in version 844.
In the picture above there is an insert showing the spacing in Windows Explorer in comparison to FC.
The space above a thumbnail is irrelevant. The difference is the space between the thumbnail and the title underneath it. It seems that FC is placing the thumbnails centered and Windows Explorer is placing them aligned with the bottom of (thumbnail) view area. Also note that there is no line break in the title in FC as in Windows Explorer.

Try the option "Draw caption without clipping".
Re: 844 Thumbnail View - Space between thumbnails too large
Thanks Dreamer, already tried that (see OP). If activated it will show thumbnail title completely, but the arrangement of the thumbnails is not ideal, there is still too much free space between thumbnails and between thumbnails and titles.
Windows Explorer will line break title and after 4 lines add '...' to end of title. This should be default for when "Draw caption without clipping" is NOT activated. (Whether after 4 lines or after 2 or 3 lines the '...' are visible in the title in FC is Marek's decision). This was already implemented in 842 I think, the titles were shown with line break and when I hovered over the title with the mouse, the complete title would then be displayed. The thumbnails were displayed neatly side by side without sacrificing screen real-estate.
If Marek decides to keep the thumbnails centered instead of aligned with the bottom (i.e. space between thumbnail and title is always constant) it is his decision, yet then it needs to stop clipping the title (see the g from .png on two thumbnails in graphic.)
Best regards,

In Windows Explorer (WE) it's not perfect either, just alignment is different, in FC it's in the middle, in WE it's at the bottom.
I'm not sure if it can be improved, I'm not sure if this is a bug, it's more a different behavior.
Example - WE, I think this is a bug, perhaps it's partly broken also in FC because of this:
- First, the view is like this: - Then just go to folder 1 and back, result: - Another example of spacing in WE:
