Grey X appearing on folder icons

I just found a series of folders that have a grey x appearing on them in the lower left of the icon. I can't seem to dig up any info on what that symbol is indicating. Does anyone else know?

Thanks,
D

Here you are. I took a look at the directories in windows explorer and I didn't notice anything odd about them when viewed there.

This screenshot shows the grey Xs

When inside a folder with a grey X chevron, some icons on files seem to be missing.

This is how they look when switching over to thumbnail view.

Just a quick follow up to let folks know I figured out what is causing this. Its Google's Backup and Sync desktop app. Its doing the icon overlay to indicate the state of the file being synced. The grey and red Xs indicate issues that need to be addressed. The missing icons seem to be files with the default windows icon but having an overlay of a green check mark. Google uses that to indicate successful sync status. It looks like the only issue really for FreeCommander is that the icon disappears when the success icon would normally be displayed. I'm not even sure it's something to expect of FreeCommander to render that properly but, thought you folks might like to know the cause of all that.

Thanks,
