x64 and x86 can I use both separately or only one

#1 Post by Uhuru NUru » 27.12.2013, 23:26

Just got Beta Access and I noticed that both have same settings location. FreeCommander XE ×64 started using FreeCommander XE ×86 settings and everything appears to be running OK.
I don't know how much difference exists or how long ×64 version has been developed.
So is there any reason to run both versions and will only one settings location apply to both or can/should I keep them separate?

The code for both versions is almost identical, so the x64 version was the same time developed as x86 version.
The only limitation for x64 is the viewer. X64 can not currently shows so many graphic types as x86.
You can use only one settings location. You should be aware of saving the settings. If you have x86 and x64 open, the settings of the last closed version will be saved.

I use both versions. As I have the settings stored in the program location (Program Files and Program Files (x86)) I can use both versions with different settings.

So marek, now that you have upgraded to XE2, will you do migration to Firemonkey? I want to see your work run smoothly on all platform (mac and soon linux) 8)
