Copy Without Dialogue

#1 Post by BGM » 06.06.2013, 19:00

How do I fix the "Copy with FreeCommander" button (in my splitter bar) to copy without using any dialogue?

I'm not sure if there is any option in settings, I can't find any, but try this:

- copy large file
- press cancel to stop copying
- click YES
- now Settings tab should appear
- now enable the 3rd option, also the others if needed
- click the Save button
- now Run or Cancel, I think it's the same, it should be saved in both cases

Edit: this works for FC file operations.

Thanks, Dreamer.

After I cancel the transfer and push YES that is all. No more dialogue, no settings tab.
FC 623

However, I am able to modify the settings in the setting tab at the beginning of the copy maneuvre because the dialogue opens. But even if I click the Save button, it seems to neither save the settings (for example, save over older files).

Ah, now I see my problem - that dialogue isn't on a copy - it is on an UNPACK action done whilst a zip file is open in one panel, and I push the copy button in the splitter bar to copy it to the other panel. THAT is where the dialogue is that I can't seem to silence.

Also, when I DO do a copy action, is there a way to silence the dialogue altogether? It will show briefly (taking the time to display and then to hide), which is annoying and unnecessary. Maybe the dialogue could be prevented instead of just hidden after it is shown?

Yes, this is a known issue - I think I have reported it, or confirmed.

Strange, here it is displayed in background just for a moment, it just blinks behind the main FC window and it's minimized immediately.

I changed some of my copy settings and then dismissed the dialogue. How do I change the settings now that there is no window? Sometimes I wish there was an area for copy options within the main settings window - that way I don't have to copy something in order to set the options.

So, how do I get the dialogue window back?

There are two types of copy actions: "Copy" and "Copy with dialog". Try to use "Copy with dialog".

Karol, ah, I forgot about that.

So, in order to remedy my situation, I have to change the toolbar button from copy to copy with dialog then set my copy options, and the change the toolbar buttons back. Hmmm.. Methinks this isn't too intuitive.

You can simply select the action from menu: File - Copy; File - Copy with dialog.

Okay, got it figured out now. I would still prefer to have the copy settings in the main settings dialogue - then one doesn't have to remember where they are hidden, and could perhaps set the options for copy AND move operations in the same place.

Thanks, Karol.

Ah, one more thing about this.
Even though I use the copy without dialogue button, the window still appears for a second before it hides itself.
Can we get it to never open at all?
When it opens, it steals the focus and the main window flashes as it loses its active state. It returns focus to the main window when the copy dialogue (that isn't supposed to be there) hides itself. The flashing is pretty annoying.

Strange, it just blinks here.

Well, maybe I'm confused, but I'm still having this problem. When I want to copy or delete something, I *ALWAYS* have to click through dialogues.
I just want to push the button or key and be done with it.

So I go to delete a file. I select it and push delete.
A dialogue appears every time.
Operation: send to recycle bin.
In the settings tab, everything is checked.

How do I get rid of the dialogue? I don't even want it to ask to confirm.

Maybe your recycle bin properties:
Rightclick on recycle bin, select properties and check the option "Display delete confirmation dialog".

Thanks Ralfso - but that's the confirmation for Windows.

I'm talking about the FC dialogue called "Send to Recycle Bin" with the buttons: Queue, Run, Cancel.
I want to get rid of that one.

- open "Define keyboard shortcuts" window
- filter "delete"
- use "Delete to recycle bin (FC) - no dialog"

You can create the toolbar button for "Delete to recycle bin (FC) - no dialog" the same way.
