Thumbnails in FCXE vs FC2009

My FC2009 shows shows internal thumbnails for solidworks files (.sldasm, .slddrw, .sldprt) but not for pdf's. FCXE shows thumbnails for pdf's but not solidworks. Windows Explorer shows thumbnails for both these. Can anyone tell me what option I need to set in FC2009 and FCXE to get thumbnails to show for these file types?

So far the only benefit I'm seeing with FCXE over FC2009 is a faster folder refresh rate. There are still more features in 2009 that I don't have in XE.
