More "responsive" status bar when selecting files

Hello,
Sometimes I have a lot of files in one folder, lets say 15k+ and I have to copy them to appropriate folders (all files mostly random name). Only what I know that for example first 135 will be moved to folder A, another 227 to folder B and so on. I am selecting files by shift and arrow down and looking on status bar for correct number of selected files. But status bar is not updated when I hold the arrow down. I have to always stop, see how many I have and then go slowly. Can there be settings to enable status bar change in all cases?
