MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) Support

Some devices, e.g. the Creative Zen media player, are now exclusively supporting this protocol when connected via USB, and do not expose their storage via the USB Mass Storage Protocol. This makes it impossible to transfer files to/from them with FreeCommander.
Having recently purchased such a device, and having experienced a lot of frustration at how terrible Windows Explorer is at dealing with it, even though it does attempt to support it by exposing it as a device, it would be great to be able to use FreeCommander to access the Creative Zen (and other MTP devices). I normally exclusively use FreeCommander in preference to Windows Explorer.

May I second this emotion (media player support).

Add me to the list. I would much rather use FC for file management of my Sony NMZ-E444 portable media player than Windows Explorer
.

Does anyone know if this is going to happen?

Ah, I guess this is my problem. I posted the topic,
"FC does not recognize new digital camera as a drive"
viewtopic.php?f=3&t=3820
My 8-year-old Sony digital camera is recognized properly but my new Canon Vixia HF S30 is not recognized. Windows Explorer does see it but not in a consistent way, sometimes seeing only one of the three memories in the camera (one internal and two SD card slots). Win Exp is a mess; I would much rather use FC for this and all file transfers.
Does the beta version of FC-XE address this issue. I hope it does/will. Many thanks.

I can easily access a Creative Zen media player and other MTP devices in a tab in FC XE (Win 7), but couldn't see how to do it in FC 2009 (Win XP; please confirm for other versions of Windows.) Access is via "Computer" rather than a drive letter. There are some limitations on what can be done in an MTP folder (e.g. there is no New menu), but that is probably due to the protocol rather than FC. See
viewtopic.php?f=3&t=3820&p=11272#p11272 for a bit more information.

MTP is NOT supported in old FC versions, it is supported only in XE version.
