One more thing would make it 100% perfect for me:
the possibility to add comments to individual files/folders, like in this file manager:
AC Browser Plus (http://www.konradp.com/products/acbplus/)

As a workaround: Maybe (haven't tried myself) you can set up file filters to show different file types in different colours.
