Copy Command

#1 Post by rbs2vs » 06.11.2007, 23:48

Hi,

Free Commander uses the Windows default copy function. This could be nice. But there is a catch. The Windows copy function has this glitch that when it encounters an error in copying a file (for example among the files of a directory which is being copied) it will stop copying the rest of the files too. I think it is better for the Free Commander to have its own copy function and continue copying files despite errors or at least prompt for action by the user (just like the copy command in Speed Commander). You could also offer the option in the setting section so that users can choose whether they will use the default Windows copy function or the Free Commander native function.

You can use other programs with FC for copy, but it have some limitations that you always have to select file/dir that you are copying even if you copy only one file or directory. That means if you are positioned on one file or dir(unselected) that you want to copy and press f5 TerraCopy will not copy file or dir, but windows copy function will copy.
