Address bar context menu and mini-buttons

#1 Post by Dreamer » 01.11.2007, 19:06

I suggest these changes/additions to address bar context menu:

- move "copy to clipboard" item above "sort by", it will be the 1st item
- 2nd item - edit path
- 3rd item - add path from clipboard *
- 4th item - root
- 5th item - go up
- then the list of all drives (a: c: d: e: f: ...) (not as a sub-menu)
- sort by (existing item/s)
- filter (existing item/s)

Perhaps an option to set which items should be shown as a menu and which shouldn't would help too - for "drives", "sort by" and "folter".

And these new address bar buttons:

- edit path (perhaps with right click menu items "add from clipboard")
- add path from clipboard * (not needed if prev. context menu item would be added)

Address bar buttons (and perhaps also context menu items) might be customizable.

* similar to "past and go" in Opera, exactly the same as opttion "from clipboard" in Avant Browser.

Bit related to another suggestion: ""Address bar editable" menu item and button".

I really like this idea and would call it Panel Mini-toolbar, or something like that.

Several other commanders have this feature and I use it to the fullest extent with them. Some of them allow different definitions for the left and right address bar Mini-toolbars, but I don't find that necessary.

Here are buttons that would be useful to me:
  • Drive dropdown
    Root (existing)...
    Up (existing)
Previous path in tab history (with dropdown)
Next path in tab history (with dropdown)
    Favorites (dropdown)
    Defined Filter (dropdown)
    Toggle Quickfilter
View - details, thumbs, etc. (dropdown)
    Toggle tree
    Change directory button
    Refresh panel
I know these buttons are already on the FreeCommander toolbars, but since they are specific to navigating within a tab and nearly always needed, I personally prefer them to be permanently associated with the address bars instead of on separate toolbars.

Thanks for listening!
