Add "keepalive" option for FTP

#1 Post by misterphister » 17.09.2008, 17:00

FreeCommander is a great product.

Just one thing bugs me - getting kicked out of my own FTP server for being idle.

Would be great to have a "Keep connection alive" checkbox in the FTP connection properties to ping it periodically, as when it times out you get TWO warnings from FreeCommander.

I guess it is the same, with a little more details:

When there is a session timeout (DirectoryListing-ChangeCurrentDir: (421) 421 Timeout. - [dir] written in log), no warning message pops up if I try to do anything in the FTP window. I cannot refresh the window to get a new session, only thing I had figure out to do is to change the drive to an available one, and than back to the FTP .

Config is freshly downloaded FC 2009.02 under XP SP2.

It would be nice to have a refresh kick in a new session (like in the other commander, I am using FC instead of :D).

A keepalive option described above would do the trick as well, only fear is that if you forget to disconnect, it will be poking the FTP endlessly.

Yes, a "keep alive" feature would be great. It is very annoying if you are working and need to have a look at your ftp folder after a while and you always have to re-establish the connection.

Would be very easy to implement: Just send a nop (no operation) every nn seconds to the ftp server.

Thank you
