Multi-rename and path edit

When Ctrl+M (Multi rename tool) is pressed and no files are selected, FC does nothing. It should either show error (like TC), or use all files in directory (I would prefer that).

Another difference to TC is when keystroke for file rename (F2 in FC, Shift-F6 in TC) is pressed on two dots on top of file list.
In TC it allows of in-place edit of actual folder path (like Alt+G in FC), in FC it shows Multi rename (like Ctrl+M).
Could it be an option to behave like TC ?
It could be a checkbox in Confirmations, just below:
Use dialog window to change file names
as for me it seems connected somehow - I use in-place edit of filenames, and IMHO on ".." it should also work as in-place edit (but for actual path)
