Cannot apply defined filters in Synchronize

#1 Post by msorens » 21.01.2008, 17:35

Though the help file seems to indicate one could apply a filter defined in the main window when in the synchronize sub-window, this is not the case. The filter box in synchronize is only showing the 3 entries that came out of the box: *.* and .exe.com and .txt.doc. Any ones I added in the main window are not showing up.

As a workaround I would just type a phrase in the synchronize window but I can find no information on the syntax for exclusion (i.e. I want to show all files except those with a .xyz extension).

Exclude filters are not supported yet.

You addressed my second point, but not the first: any filters I add--whether they are include filters or exclude filters--do *not* show up in the synchronize sub-window.

The filter box in synchronize is only showing the 3 entries that came out of the box: *.* and .exe.com and .txt.doc. Any ones I added in the main window are not showing up.
The filter box shows the filters from the main window if the filter has "Include" portion defined. Only "Include" portion will be used now. If you type a filter self you should then click on "Compare..." button.
I plan exclude filter for the next version.

Instead of continuing back and forth with me saying it does not work and you saying it does :-) here is a test scenario for you:
Define filter A with include specs.
Define filter B with exclude specs.
Define filter C with include specs.
Open synchronize and open filter choices.
Expected result: filters A and C should appear.
Actual result: only filter A appears.

You are right. I have fixed this bug and added exclude filter and "ignore 1 hour time delay" option. These changes will appear next week in the beta release.

Hi,

Unlike the exclude filtering when viewing files, the exclude filter on synchronization doesn't appear to exclude folder names.

The problem I'm having is wanting to copy all files from IIS wwwroot EXCEPT folders and files that begin with "_vt".

I tried setting exclude filter in sync to: _vt*

but it seems to be getting ignored.

Any ideas or can this be fixed?

Thanks!

Dan
