Copying ~ Not Responding

Using the latest version of FreeCommander. Windows Vista Home Premium.

An ongoing problem is when I attempt to copy "large" files from one drive to another an error message comes up "not responding" and the program hangs. I stop the program through control alt delete and only a small part of the file/s have been copied to the new location. This problem will occur if copying from a portable drive to the computer's hard drive, or the other direction, or copying from one location to another on the computer's hard drive.

When I refer to large files, it can be anything from 500mb and greater.

I do not have this problem when using the "Windows Computer" interface.

Very annoying. How so I work around this problem?

You can ignore "not responding" message and wait till the operation is completed
or
you can try the FreeCommander XE with the setting for file operations "Use FC".

Thanks for the reply. Next time I will wait and see if the operation will complete. To date the program hangs and nothing has happened for a long length of time.

In the meantime I will try the XE version of the program.

I have just installed the XE version. Will test it out. Just out of interest, how/why is the FC setting different to the Windows option?

This version, to date is working okay, when copying "larger" files from one location to another. I am pleased!

Hi,
I had the same problem with Freecommander. With Freecommander XE, there's still quite some delay time before the copying really is ended. Status bar already has reached 100%, but have to wait 30 sec before it is finalised.... I hope this can be fixed, but it might be some hardware issue with tables, usb and whatsoever.
Keep on with the good work on XE....

Maybe you should look at Teracopy... When I use it withing Freecommander (XE), (it's nested withing Windows after installing), all large files or batches go without any problems, whereas both Freecommander and its XE sibling just lock up...
