[DONE] Status Bar lacks ability to show GB for sizes

#1 Post by Forez » 10.11.2018, 12:57

I would like to point out, that under

Tools > Settings > View > Status Bar > Content > Define Details >

there is no option for showing of GB sizes - user can choose only bytes, KB and MB

It has been quite a long time since we have surpassed even the GB mark. If you are operating on files that are big archives, movies or RAW photos, then with MB in place you see something like e.g. 137 526.87 MB and the very next moment you migh see something like 45 398.09 MB, which is not clear / quick to read. And with GB the amount of number digits would be less by the 1 magnitude of order

What about Auto size - [fc_sizeAutoSel] ? It's the default option.

So that is what that does... and so this topic of mine https://freecommander.com/forum/viewtop ... =18&t=9066 was unnecessary

But still, there is no option for gigabytes alone; and terabytes

I would like to point out that for months now there on the market open to public there are HDDs available with 22TB capacity in a single 3.5" unit

So why still is there no ability for the Status Bar to utilize

Code: Select all

[fc_sizGBSel]
parameter? Why is FreeCommander stuck in the 1990s in regard to size units, acknowledging usage of MBs but not GBs?

And what about

Code: Select all

[fc_sizTBSel]
and future proofing FreeCommander for PBs?

All parameters "fc_size*Auto*" works fine with Terabytes (TB) and Petabytes (PB).

The

Code: Select all

[fc_sizeAutoSel]
does work - but it is not what I driving at

If I will use in my Status Bar for Text Pattern [among other] this

Code: Select all

  |   [fc_sizeAutoAll] ▶ [fc_sizeAutoSel]
and then for its Hint Pattern this

Code: Select all

 BYTES: [fc_sizeSel]
 KILOBYTES: [fc_sizeKBSel]
 MEGABYTES: [fc_sizeMBSel]
 GIGABYTES: [fc_sizeGBSel]
that what I will see is e.g. this

FreeCommander - Status Bar lacks GBs.png
FreeCommander - Status Bar lacks GBs.png (17.29 KiB) Viewed 13219 times

because

Code: Select all

[fc_sizeGBSel]
it is not understood / accepted by FC; and so are

Code: Select all

[fc_sizeTBSel]
[fc_sizePBSel]
also not working
