I think that under
Tools > Settings > Quick Search / Filter / Starter > Quick Filter
there should be an option to >>automatically remove search query after X days of un-usage<<
And what I mean by >>X<< is the numbers of days the user has to define, with zero being the default value- and with that 0 meaning "never"
And what I mean by >>un-usage<< is if user does not go to the Quick Filter triangle icon and chooses it from the list; or types it down in the box once more
I personally use Quick Filter for quick and usually not so important searches. And only something like 1% of the searches do I repeat within few days. So eliminating the need to clear them manually would save me the time and clicks
And some time ago I presented also other ideas for making the Quick Filter more user friendly:

Both proposals were implemented some time ago.And some time ago I presented also other ideas for making the Quick Filter more user firendly:

Re: Quick Filter auto clean-up after chosen numbers of days
How about the proposition from this very topic?
Can we have an option in which users would specify, if they have such need, to deleted every past Quick Filter entry from its history after a specified amount of days; or even hours?
