Add a Column

#1 Post by BazzaBoy » 05.04.2008, 10:15

Besides the 'Modified' column, I would also like to see a 'Created' column, to see when a file or folder was created.

I tried the Custom Columns/Profiles in the setup, but wasn't quite successful. Frankly, I did not know what to put under Profile.

Can someone show me how to get this additional column into a pane, if at all it can be done.

In the Custom Columns settings window....

either edit an already existing profile, or create a new one, by clicking the "Add to List" button....

name it, then edit it using the "hammer" icon....

Click the "Add to List" button again, then change the content of that new field by using the "Content" drop down box near the bottom.

You can choose, Name, Extension, Path, Size, Created etc from there....

You may need to have a NAME field at least before you can add more.

-----

also...after doing that, don`t forget to choose to actually use your new profile..... in the menu...

View > Custom Columns > .....
.....
.....

Thanks,

It works. Although now the date Created and date Modified are showing as the same, in case of folders. For files, the dates are showing correctly.

I wanted to add this column, mainly for folders.

Ah well.

That`s odd...I`ve just tested it and it`s OK here....

be sure to look at the list of fields you have created and that they definitely are set to show the correct info, by selecting them individually, and choosing the field descriptor in the dropdown box for each.

Otherwise, I can`t think what could be the problem. :?

That was on my Lap-top computer.

I tried the same thing on my desk-top computer and all seems to be showing OK.

Both are Win XP (SP2).

Computers are so complicated now-a-days.

Good thing I don't use my Lap-top much.

You can say that again, I`m surprised they even work at all sometimes

haven`t got a clue about the laptop mystery though...
