Larger spaces for icons in right-pane?

#1 Post by prr » 27.06.2013, 18:43

How can I get more space between folder icons in the right-pane view? They appear all scrunched together, with the top of one row's icons touching the next higher row's folder titles.

Settings > View > Thumbnails > Spacing...

BTW Please post the new topics for XE version in the "Beta Testing - FreeCommander XE" section.

I've set the y axis up to 90, and still I don't see any difference. Each row appears scrunched up against the higher row. I hit Apply as well as OK.

Someone is blocking the links for me, maybe my ISP, but I managed to see them using a proxy server.

Dreamer pointed you to the right direction. Those settings work fine in my case.
Go to Help\About and see where the FreeCommander.ini file is saved.
Change those settings; I use 15 for X axis and 40 for Y axis.
Close FC XE.
Use WE or any other files browser and open that FreeCommander.ini file.
Search for these strings "ThumbSpacingX=" and "ThumbSpacingY=" and check to see if their values are the ones you chose. If they are still the default ones, then you might not have the permissions needed to change files in the Settings folder, so the problem is not with FC.
You can also try and manually change those values in the .ini file.

OK I checked the INI file, and sure enough, the thumb spacing there is set to 90 (y axis, which would be the one that adjusts the spacing for icons in the columns (vertical axis).

I really don't know why the icons are like this.

Just in case this matters--we're talking about thumbnail settings, but I don't have FC set to show the Thumbnail view. I have large icons.

Yes, this is important. That option above is probably for thumbnails only.

Here it looks better, so perhaps it's different OS or font type/size? Are you using normal size of font in Windows? Try to change font type/size in FC settings.

I am running Windows 7. I have normal, default system fonts and sizes. Apart from MS Word, I don't think I've ever changed a font size in Windows or in a browser.

I couldn't see in FC where to change the system font/size.

At any rate, yes my concern was valid. In thumbnail view (which I just tried) the thumbnails are ridiculously large. Can someone tell me what the default thumbnail x and y axis numbers are? I'd just look for a system-wide default setting, but I'd have to give up too many tweaks.
