How to install a new plugin + quick view/editor

#1 Post by david » 19.05.2010, 21:42

Thanks for your time.
I have FreeCommander. When I press CTRL+Q, I can see the quick view. I want to be able to edit or have syntax
enabled editor. In the past I believe I used Syn2 or SynPlus. But I can;t remember how to install the plugins

1. How excatly do I install plugins for FC?
2. What is the best way to replace the CTRL+Q to open the file (within FC, not as a separate program)
in edit mode?
3. Recommendations on Syn or SynPlas or any other plugins?

THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME and help

- make a new "plugin"-folder in "freecommander"-program-folder (or whereever you wish)
- copy the plugin to this folder
- open quickview in freecommander
- rightclick on titlebar of the quickview window
- chose properties
- add the plugin-path under "plugin"tab.

I use SynPlus for highlighting-editor.

@david, do you want to be able to use the editor in the Quick View pane?
I want that too, but I can't get it to work right for me.

@Ralfso -
hope you have a solution for this ---
I've tried most of the WLX editor plugins, with the wish to use an editor in the Quick View pane. They all work fine in the external Viewer window.
But I can't use them for actual data-entry in the Quick View Pane.
First, I had to change all the viewer hotkeys, to free up the letters that were used for those (such as, P for Plugins, T for text, etc).
Now those letters can be used for data-entry in the Quick-view pane.
BUT
All the letters that are designated as menu "accelerators" pop open that menu, instead of typing into the document.
In other words, they behave as though the Alt key is pressed, followed by the accelerator letter to open the menu.
The letter F opens File menu, E == Edit, D ==Folder, W == View, X== Extras, H == Help.

I just can't do without those six letters. Yes, I can work-around by copy & paste, but what a pain.
Right now I have SynPlus installed, and I want to use it so much, I am drooling down my chin! I would even be happy with a plain-text editor.

Any thoughts ???

Yes I followed the instructions basically
Press CTRL+Q
On the title bar on the Quick View window (not very discoverable)
you can right click and set the plugin in the plugin tab.

I don't have an idea!
For me it works fine with synplus. I proved all letters from a to z and A to Z.
I've also deactivated all letters for the viewer but I've no problem with the menu.
Maybe because synplus has no menu in my quickview-window.
Which text-plugin do you use?
I can't remember to change the synplus-properties because its very difficult for me!
The synplus properties dialog box has problems with my Vista and shows a complete black box with some fields but no readable text.
If helpful, I can send you my SynPlus.ini.

Here are my hotkeys for the Viewer-section in freecommander.ini:
