Yet another PM with a link - they are getting smarter (I think).

Edit:
Do they really think a forum admin could detect a virus on our computer? Plus, even if they could, they wouldn't email us about it, telling us to perform an online scan - they would tell us to do an offline scan (using our own, TRUSTED anti-virus program).

animeaime,
You beat me to it--I just posted about this in the thread about the other spammer.
jimoer,
I'm not sure if you understand--the person who sent you the PM is pretending to be an admin at this forum but she is not--it's a scam. They want you to visit that page so they can scare you into buying some bogus antivirus/antimalware. Just do not click the link in the PM and otherwise ignore it.
Before this last round of PM spam I got a PM from the real forum admin. They are testing a new forum to prevent this sort of thing so just hang in there and use common sense. How would someone you have never heard of know that you have an infection on your computer? Trust your antivirus and security tools, not some one who comes in out of the blue and ignore any PM's you get like this one.

I got the same thing just now. I guess this is why admin's turn off user PM's.

In case the REAL forum administrator reads this thread, I can recommend (from personal experience) the forum spam tools here:
www (dot) stopforumspam (dot) com
It takes some persistence, but these doofuses can be blocked.
