Copy as 8.3 isn't working for pathes of linked network drive

I am using "FreeCommander XE 2018 Build 772 64-bit donor" on a Windows 7 64 bit. I've reproduced this error with parameter /N /NewIni=%FcAppDataPath%\Settings\FreeCommanderTest.ini /NoPlugins /Lng=English
The "Copy path to clipboard (8.3) " functionality is working correctly on local drives only. If I am using this functionality on a linked network drive (something like "K:\long_foobar\longer_foobar\verylong_foobar-file.txt") then the resulting path isn't formatted in the 8.3 format. It is just showing the full path name.
I am using this functionality occassionaly since there some very long path names in my shares.
