FC freezes when deleting large amount of files

When deleting (without moving to recycler) a large amount of files (e.g. 250000 files, 2GB) with the FC routine FC freezes and blocks the system almost completely. After killing FC the system is unstable.
There is no problem with deleting this amount of files with Windows Explorer.
FC 717 (32 and 64 bit)
Windows 7 Professional 64 bit SP1
