I am using FC XE 2014 build 650 on Win 7 64 bit and Win 8.1.
I display a single tree/file pane, make a file view column smaller, then click on a file, rename it (shortening the name), press return, and the columns resize as if set to auto re-size.
The setting View - File/Folder list - Max Column width for list view is set to 1, 10, 100. Doesn't matter.
Columns auto-resize despite settings
Re: Columns auto-resize despite settings
First of all, update to the latest public beta 680 http://freecommander.com/fc_beta_en.htm
Change setting View - Column profiles - fc_default_view (if it is used by you as default)- Define columns (looks like a hammer) - uncheck Autosize for "Name" column
Also you need to set max column width there (for column Name - it is 0 by default - no limit)

Re: Columns auto-resize despite settings
I'm using FreeCommander XE 2015 - release 682 64 bit.
I have only the default profile (fc_default_view) in which I have just disabled the autosize.
This setting applies to local drives but does not apply to network drives when no letter is mapped (eg. \\MyServer\SomeShare\).
When opening a tab to a network share, other settings apply, with shorter columns, even the Date Modified isn't wide enough to display time.
I've defined that column width to 28 so that it can completely display the text in the first line :
.. Share Microsoft Windows Network
But fc_default_view does not apply on network shares.
