Address Bar History not saved on exit
Address Bar History not saved on exit
I have disabled(unchecked) "delete history entries on close" option under general option section. The .ini file sections [HistoryDir1] and [HistoryDir2] do show history entries, but those entries are not recognized by FCXE on start. History is created fresh on every start and lasts only during the active session. On exit FCXE clears those history, but not the existing [HistoryDir1/2] entries
Re: Address Bar History not saved on exit
For me it preserves the history just fine.

I am using FCXE 650 portable 32 bit on Windows XP 32 if that matters

Can't replicate your issue, must be something else. Try these ones:

Didn't solve the issue. I always uncheck "always keep one tab" because I don't like/use tabs. Just for debugging I did check that option and used the other options you suggested. Didn't change anything. The address bar should not have anything to do with Folder Tabs I presume. The history gets added and is shown when I click on the address bar until I exit, then on restart the history is gone. If you are using W7 then it may be an issue with XP.
P.S. Edit1: In my original post I had [History_Dir1]. It was carryover from FC 2009. I changed that to [Dir1_History] to be consistent with FCXE and deleted the old [History_Dir1] section. Didn't do it. Lastly I created an .ini file from scratch but still no help.

Re: Address Bar History not saved on exit
Confirmed with default settings. After disabling option "Close all not locked tabs when the program ends", history works good.
IMHO it's not a bug, because if the tab is closed by option, also history should be removed.
Anyway...
With my settings, no matter if the option above is enabled or not, the path for locked tab is not saved on exit. I'm using also option "start folder - start with following folders", which shouldn't affect locked tabs. - If I use option "start with last used folders", history on locked tabs works good. This is a bug IMO.

Re: Address Bar History not saved on exit
Well, in FC2009b I had tabs disabled (unchecked "Keep at least one tab") but the address bar retained history on exit. So why not in FCXE?. I don't see why on FCXE address bar history should be tied to folder tabs if it was not in FC2009b. Is it an intentional change in FCXE? I don't think so. Again is this an XP issue? All except me in this thread are using W7/Vista. Can anyone confirm this with XP 32 bit please? ThanksDreamer wrote: IMHO it's not a bug, because if the tab is closed by option, also history should be removed.

Re: Address Bar History not saved on exit
For me the option "Keep at least one tab" (BTW I have "Always keep one tab open") is not important.
Try to enable the option "start with last used folders" in Start program > Start folder. I think this option causes the bug.
Also disable the option "Close all not locked tabs when the program ends", because if enabled, the tabs are closed, so history can't be saved - and shouldn't be saved IMHO.

Re: Address Bar History not saved on exit
I always have the option to start with fixed folders in both panes, as in FC2009b. After enabling "start with last used folders" it only did what it says. Didn't keep histories of all the folders I browsed after exit, which is what I want and what FC2009b does.Dreamer wrote:For me the option "Keep at least one tab" (BTW I have "Always keep one tab open") is not important.

I didn't have tabs to begin with, so no question of "closing". I have exactly the same options in FC2009b (no tabs). But FC2009b doesn't clear address bar history (not tab history). I must distinguish between "address bar history" (Clicking on the address bar) and tab history. My question is why are FC2009b and FCXE behaving differently. Hope to get some clarification on this.because if enabled, the tabs are closed, so history can't be saved
Thanks

Because FC2009 and FCXE are complete different programs even when many options are the same.
So stop comparing the new one with the old one and set-up the new one according to your requirements.

Unfortunatelly, I can not reproduce your problem. Maybe you could send me your freecommander.ini.I have disabled(unchecked) "delete history entries on close" option under general option section. You can't reproduce it with default settings? Strange, as I said I can.Marek wrote:Unfortunatelly, I can not reproduce your problem. Maybe you could send me your freecommander.ini.
What about another one?

Hi Marek,Unfortunatelly, I can not reproduce your problem. Maybe you could send me your freecommander.ini.
I have pm'ed you my FreeCommander.ini. Please note that I never use Folder Tabs (In either FC2009 or FCXE). I don't need tabs, as I can use the drive buttons, favourite folders and File List panel to navigate anywhere. But FC2009 shows navigation history fine even after restarting FC2009. But not in FCXE. I just click on the address bar to see history. FCXE shows history fine until I close it. It doesn't save the histpry in the .ini file. You can see the .ini file and tell me what the issue is. If not anyone else, then as the author I am sure you can figure out the problem
Thanks for your attention.

@FCLover
The history works properly if you deactivate the option "Folder history per tab". In the next release the option will be ignored if no tabs exists.

Re: Address Bar History not saved on exit
Solution, finally! You were my last hope. Nobody else seemed to understand my problem or suggest the solution. Yes, I also think this option should be ignored for no tabs. Thanks for the help! Keep up your excellent work.Marek wrote:@FCLover
