File sort order

#1 Post by acre » 27.02.2019, 16:10

Hi team,

I'm loving this program so much over File Explorer. I have the Tree set up so I only see the files I want. All the other MS bloatware such as Desktop, Pictures, Documents, 3D Objects etc...are all hidden. I never use that crap.

On to my question: when you open Free commander, in the File Pane, is there a way to sort the files so that they are always arranged by Type, and then Name? I only use the headings Name, Type, and Size Auto. That's all I need.

Many thanks!

I just click on the Heading of the column and it sorts by that column. Then when I close and reopen FC, the files are still sorted the way I left it.

Thanks FreeMan. I do that too but when I close the program and open it again, the Names are all sorted from Z to A. It doesn't remember the sort order. No big deal if the program won't remember the order. I still love this much better than the MS garbage!!!

You should have a look at your column profiles.
There you can define the sorting of the columns.

I'm not sure but I don't think column profiles has a sort option as far as I can tell.

I think you're right Freeman. I checked but don't see a way to sort columns. You can only set conditions with "if" and "then" statements.

Just switch tab to "Auto selectable views", if you can't see it, upgrade to the latest version, it's available also in the public version.

Anyway, even without "Auto selectable views" it is possible to create a column "Type" and click it to sort by type, or just right click and select sort by type.

Thanks Dreamer. I'll check into this. My main problem is the sort order not being remembered. I have to click the Type and Name columns manually each time the program is opened. Let me give your idea a go. Thanks again!

It works! I set the sort order to Type->Ascending in the Default folder. All's well now. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
