Windows Explorer opens when clicking on a link in Favorites

Hello,
When I drag a link to a folder into the Favorites column, Windows Explorer is launched to open this link.
I went to the Shell Menu settings of FC and checked all the boxes (including Links), updated registry, rebooted. Still no change.
I would like to drag in links to the Favorites column because it would be a fast way to transfer all of my Windows Explorer favorites. As a workaround I have put a copy of the contents (links) of the Windows Explorer Favorites folder in to a new folder and put this in FC's Favorites column.
Also, when I click on a folder in the Tree, it takes about 1 sec to open the file listing. Clicking on a Favorite folder takes about 2 seconds. When I double click on a folder in the file list, it is fast as I expect it to be. This delay includes folders that are on SSD.
I'm using Win7 x64. Might the x64 version be faster?
