How to add an external file/folder

#1 Post by SafeTex » 01.07.2016, 13:05

Hello

You'll guess from the question that I don't often use Free Commander

I just can't find a way of adding a file/folder from my Desktop into Free Commander when it's open but showing another folder (not desktop)

Just now, I tried copying the folder and once in FC and the folder I wanted to add it too, I right clicked with my mouse but the Windows dialogue box I normally get flashes and then disappears.

There must be an easy way?

Also, is it a bug that the Windows Explorer window I normally use does not work in FC?

Thanks

are you trying to CREATE a new folder in FC XE or do you want to open FC XE with a folder from explorer?
FC XE 0.760 x86
Win 7 Ent 64bit SP1 |16 GB ram |Intel Core i7-3770
Win 10 Pro Anniversary | 4GB ram

Hello Therearld

From memory, I might see a folder (folder A) that I need to add somewhere else.

I would click on it (folder A), copy, and then open the folder (B) where I wanted to put the "copied" folder (A) in FC

The problem then is that "paste" was not available in FC

So I would have to relocate folder A again but in FC before I could copy it over

As I have so many folders and subfolders, this "relocation" takes time

Regards

Hello,

I'm not sure where is the problem, but...

- it might be a problem with the 64/32 bit OS and FC - conflict
- install the latest stable version of FC
- in settings > file/folder operations > drag&drop > enable the option "use blocking transfer" and try to drag and drop the file from desktop to FC
- create the "System folders" button for the main toolbar, select Desktop and use F5 to copy the file from desktop to the other panel, destination
