not showing drive

#1 Post by grumpyoldman1 » 18.06.2016, 19:20

I have just installed free commander.

The software shows all drives on pc but won't show my andriod phone when it is connected by USB.

How do I get software to recognise it?

Thank you

In smartphone settings you should change connection type from Device -> Removable drive. After that you should be able to see your Android device as disk drive.

The android software doesn't have an option to change connection type as such. There is an option for 'use of USB' which allows 'charging only' or 'tansfer files(mtp)' or 'transfer photos (ptp)' or 'midi'. I have tried all these options but phone doesn't show in any. All thats happens is free commander screen 'blinks' as if it is connecting but nothing shows.

The phone shows in windows explorer.

Questions should be addressed to smartphone manufacturer. Also have a look at http://www.howtogeek.com/192732/android ... s-storage/
In your case you could not connect device as a disk drive. You can find it as a device only. Changing file manager would not solve your problem.

Select Desktop from the drive bar and then select Computer. Here you will see your smartphone.
Dependent on your used FC version not all operations may work. Copy/paste should works.
