I prefer urgently to hide the vertical icon bar in the middle between the two panes.
How can I achieve this?
Can I put the icons (in smallery versions) into a "normal" horizontal toolbar at the top?

How to disable the vertical middle icon bar between panes?
Re: How to disable the vertical middle icon bar between pane
Right click on toolbar > customize action toolbars or
Right click on splitterbar > customize toolbars
and uncheck "splitter".
In this dialog search for the functions and put them in your horizontal toolbar (or a another toolbar).

Thanks - I never thought of asking and it looks so much better without the splitter (to me, anyway).
