Quick View does not show rtf files correctly

#1 Post by madoues » 10.03.2016, 02:45

Hi,

I am new to the forum, but have used FreeCommander occasionally for quite a while now and like it very much.

I could not find an answer to my question with the forum's search function. It may have a fairly simple explanation for many of you, which is why I am posting here.

I have just started to use the Quickview function with dual panels. It works in the sense that both panel's selected file can be seen in the Quickview panels. However, rtf files show up as if they would be txt files, i.e. all the font settings, etc. show up as text.

The only place I could find as a setting for this is to change the Converter Program in The viewer configuration panel, but that's not it.

So, can I change this behavior and have Quickview show rtf files correctly, and if so, how?

Dan

Install the TC ULister plugin and the necessary Oracle viewer files.
This will not only display RTF files but also almost any other file type.

1. In the viewer settings we have the option "RTF file size limit (MB)". Maybe your files are bigger as the current limit.
2. In the viewer settings you can remove '.rtf.' from the field "as Rtf:" and add to field "as Windows preview" (Vista+)

Thank you both for your replies.

Marek, regarding your #1: My biggest files are less than 100kB.
I tried your #2, but it doesn't help.

However, maybe you meant I must install the files horst.epp recommended first.
I haven't, simply because I don't know how to install them.

I searched for a plugin folder for FreeCommander thinking I could just drop the files in there like I do for other programs, but didn't find any such folder. There is no exe file in what I downloaded. Couldn't find anywhere in settings where it says plugin folder or files to point to these files or folders.

So how do I install both the TC ULister plugin and the Oracle viewer files?

Thanks,

Dan

Make a Plugin folder inside of your FC program dir.
Make a sub-dir ULister in this plugin folder and store all files from the Ulister Zip file into it.
In FC Settings / View / Viewer
Hit the Viewer button and add the wcx or wcx64 file from the Ulister dir as new plugin in the plugins tab.
Which version depends on your FC, wcx for x86 and wcx64 for the x64 FC.
Download the Oracle viewer files (select again version depending on your FC)
and store all files from the redist sub-dir of the zip into the Ulister dir.
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middl ... 97435.html
You need the Windows (x86-32 or x86-64) files from the Viewer Technology 8.5.2 section.
Note that you have to register an free Oracle account before you can download anything from Oracle.

Thanks, I'll try that as soon as I get a chance and post back.
