Is there any way to "group by" like in Windows Explorer? Not sure how to word that properly so here's an example of Group by Type:

This is literally the only thing holding me back from making FCXE my default file browser. Beyond that I love it.

Probably not exactly the same, but you can sort by type or extension and use different colors for different extensions/types, in settings > view > file/folder list > items color, you can define *.zip;*.rar;*.7z for archive files for example...

EDIT: BTW you can use the (custom) shortcut to select all files with same extension, so just go to the file with ext. txt, then use the shortcut to select all files with the same ext.

While that does help, I'm more looking for a seperator.
Something I can expand/collapse, like the first pic or maybe like this:

I know what you mean, but it looks it's not easy to change something in the file list, that's why details view head columns color can't be changed and the checkboxes can't be implemented.

There are some other features that could help, it's just a workaround, but perhaps it will be useful for you.

- quick filter to quickly filter just some file types, extensions
- show only selected files, e.g. use shortcut to select all txt files, then other shortcut to show only selected files

Damn. I was hoping for a way to expand/collapse said groups. Oh well.
Thanks for the color/shortcut tip!
