How can I reduce items displayed in desktop panel?

#1 Post by andrewzy » 28.03.2015, 11:58

I'd like to be able to set up the desktop panel (and other panels) so that it only shows items which are normally visible on the desktop and not 'Computer', 'control panel' etc. Is it possible to do this? I expect I'm missing something obvious but I can't see what it is! I'm using FreeCommander XE 2015 Build 685 32-bit public

Mhanks for any help with this.

When I hit my Desktop toolbar button, I get my Desktop folder displaying exactly what I have on my Desktop, which is nothing.
I can't understand how you can get your Desktop folder displaying items that are not on your Desktop.

I think he means the "base folder", by default, it works the same as in Explorer, so also the control panel, computer and network items are displayed.

With the Desktop toolbar button, just the desktop items are displayed, in my case, not all items are displayed, probably the items for all users are not shown, in the desktop toolbar button context menu all items are displayed.

To display just the desktop items on FC start you can set this options:

Settings > Start program > Start/TEMP folder > Start folder > Start with following folders > for left/right panel use %UserProfile%\Desktop\

This way it works, but as I said, just some items are displayed, not the items from "all users" desktop folder. Don't know if there is a way to show all desktop items.

My Desktop folder also displays exactly what I have on my Desktop. I don't see 'Control panel'.

Try with default settings...

BTW I found another issue, I have the Control panel twice (I'll start a new topic for that).

OK, I get it now. Maybe the base folder "Desktop" should be renamed, to avoid confusion? Now it behaves exactly like Windows Explorer.

I'm not sure, it's the same as in explorer, so different name would be confusing for other users.
