Synchronizing larger files

The synchronization lasts very long, if there are large files (in my case about 8 GB)
I have two containers created with True Crypt, size about 100 GB.
The first container is on the hard disk, the second on an external disk.
I am using Sata III.
It’s much quicker to copy the complete container than to synchronize.
There are no problems with smaller files.
So would it be possible to improve the handling of large files?
