I read the webpage

that the FAQ points to about using FC with 64-bit Windows, but unfortunately I don't understand on several levels. For one, I wonder how feasible others find living with the cited limitations. (For one, I'm happy to not access the OS' "Control Panel" through FC.) Plus I wonder if the "Solutions" section indicates that the limitations have already been overcome. And if so, and are they overcome only in a 64-bit beta versions of FC, how usable are others finding working with those betas now?

Understanding will help me decide whether to find another program or not for my upcoming 64-bit OS install, or to donate to access betas.

I use the portable FC x64 version with no problems.
Of course the Donor version which is now at build 660

I've been using FC since back in the 2009 days and went with the x64 portable version when I went to Windows 7. I've tried various other file managers and have never found one as good as FCXE x64. The author of FC, Marek, has been very responsive to issues that I personally have had with FC. I've been impressed enough to donate more than once.

First, thank you very much for your replies, horst.epp and wrbird. I'm truly eager to donate, I only first wondered if people are happy using the 64-bit beta versions of FC. Great to hear that people are!

I also wondered what kind of limitations there are, but now I think I was confused in my original post: please tell me, is it true that since there is a 64-bit beta version of FC, the limitations (I don't understand well) at http://www.freecommander.com/fc_logchanges_en.htm are not relevant to it (the 64-bit beta FC)?

Just curious, are you citing the number of builds to reassure me that by now people are pretty satisfied living with the donor beta version?

Again, I really want to donate to and embrace FC, because I like it far better than the other file managers I've been testing.

The limitations only regard the 32-bit version of FCXE on a 64-bit system.

I'd like to encourage you to do so. I use FC and FCXE for many years, now FCXE 64-bit on Windows 7 Professional 64 bit SP1.

I absolutely will, it will be a great pleasure! What an ideal program I've found this to be in comparison testing with other file managers.

I'm using portable FC XE 2014 Build 650 on x64 Windows 8.1 and having the following problem:
when I open the "Define favorite toolbars" everything is disabled except for the Run section, so I'm unable to make any entry. I created the toolbar, but cannot add items. I'm only started using FC, in a transition from TC, so I'm trying to make the same working environment. What is wrong? I'll try to give link to snapshot uploaded on gdrive:
